Annual Water Quality Testing Confirms Safe Standards Across All BEWASCO Networks

Sunday, 07 June 2026
BEWASCO completed its 2025 annual water quality audit across all distribution points. Results confirm that water supplied meets WHO safe drinking water standards.

About the Audit

Every year, BEWASCO conducts a comprehensive water quality audit across all its distribution networks, storage tanks, and public kiosks. The 2025 audit was carried out in partnership with the Gedo Regional Health Office and an independent laboratory based in Mogadishu.

Testing Methodology

Water samples were collected from 34 different points across the network including:

  • Main storage tanks (3 locations)
  • Public kiosks (12 locations)
  • Residential connection points (15 locations)
  • School and health facility connections (4 locations)

Each sample was tested for bacterial contamination, chemical composition, turbidity, pH levels, and residual chlorine.
